Promises… Promises.. Promises. I have begun to dislike that word. I used to take the word too lightly. But no. It’s one word that sneaks up on you unaware because it gives ‘Expectations’ to the one who hears it and ‘Power’ to the one who says it.
We say President is the most powerful person in the world. Maybe… Maybe not. It depends on how big your world is. Give it a person, few persons, pets or even personal effects. You may think the person who expects is being a brat or a on-who-wants-it-all. You may think they’re being selfish. You may think they are being mean when they act out when their ‘Expectations’ are not met by the ones who made them. But, if u look closely, they act out because they ‘Care’. They are being selfish because they are hurt. Plain and simple.
It may seem petty and childish from the outside. But it’s devastating for them because their world doesn’t seem to ‘Care’ for them.
We all say we don’t expect anything in return from someone we care about. Reality is, we all do. We do expect to be noticed. We want to be noticed by our ‘World’. One way or another. It may the cheapest keychains or the most expensive dress. Doesn’t matter what we get. It’s the ‘Who’ that bothers us.
Why do you think it’s hard for mother’s to part with their children? Why do you think a child craves the Parents attention? Why do you think we get mad when ignored by a friend? It’s because they are our ‘World’ !
So the next time you make a promise to someone,even yourself, think twice before you make ’em and hold on tight cause you might break ’em!
